The super cute Sugar Pixie Brand, led by New York-based designer and illustrator Katie Plitt, makes life a little sweeter with simple, fun and colorful designs for children (and adults who refuse to grow up).
A graduate of the prestigious Parsons School of Design, Katie has spent nearly a decade as an illustrator and textile designer for a prominent international fashion house. To nurture her passion for the bright, offbeat designs found in children’s illustration, she launched Sugar Pixie. The brand has designed greeting cards for specialty shops and has created distinctive illustrations for publishers and paper companies; a who’s who of names across the globe -- including Kate's Paperie in NYC, Soolip in West Hollywood, Scholastic, Inc., Graphique De France and Marcel Schurman -- have embraced the Sugar Pixie style.
Katie’s many influences -- which she describes as “a blend of the anthropomorphic characters from American children's author and illustrator Richard Scarry to the energy of Asian pop-art” culminated into the creation of The Pixie Pops. These candy-colored characters have traveled from all over the world to live in New York City and make their dreams come true!
The Pixie Pops have been featured in two board books, “Fuzzy Bellies” and “Valentines,” published by Little Simon®, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, and starred in a show at a Few Many Gallery in Tokyo. Sugar Pixie Brand has partnered with Mindworks Entertainment to bring the Pixie Pops characters to Japan and to make the world a little cuter with Pixie Pops merchandise.
This October, the Pixie Pops' stories will come to life in fabric through Timeless Treasures' “Sweet on NYC” line. www.ttfabrics.com/index.shtml. Stay tuned on what Katie, Sugar Pixie and the Pixie Pops are up to by visiting the Sugar Pixie site: http://www.thepixiepops.com/home.html
